The Name

In the early 1800's a hunter and astute observer of the social and political environment travelled Southern Africa.

In the North-Western region, he came upon a bold, majestic mountain range (now known as the Magaliesberg), which the Matabele people called 'Kashan'. The name means 'in the distance', for wherever these people found themselves, the range was ever present.

The traveller was moved to remark that the dexterity of the Matabele in their use of the knob-stick was wonderful, for they rarely missed their target on the wing or on the ground. Unlike the other peoples whom he encountered, the Matabele operated in the open. "So terrible is this mode … that one Matabele champion is a match for fifty …" And this is the ethos upon which Kashan was founded in 1996 - accuracy, openness and a constant presence in support of our clients.
